The Match Day 1 of the Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) Division Two(2) Middle League started on Wednesday with just a slot to grab to next season’s Ghana’s Division One League. There were some interesting results across the various league centres with just a win and two draws.
At the TaTU Field, the local derby involving Yendi Soccer Heroes and Sankara Nationals ended in a 1-1 draw.
The game involving Kasalgu Arrow Heads and STK Stars was moved to the Stadium Main Annex from the BATCO Field due to the water logged nature of it after a downpour on Tuesday. Arrow Heads took the lead in the 28th minute through Dele Faisal Zakhi who was very instrumental throughout the entire duration of the match.
But his goal wasn’t enough to collect all three(3) points after Abubakari Gbolo shocked fans at the Stadium Annex with his 46th minute strike to secure a point for STK Stars on Match Day 1.
Seidu Wezi-ewe of STK Stars was shown a red card just minutes before the end of proceedings, after he clipped an Arrow Head FC player to receive a second yellow few minutes before the referee blew his whistle to end the match.
Elsewhere at the AirForce Base Park, Tamale Soccer Angels secured all three points after beating Kumbungu Binbiem FC 2-1 to go top of the league table on the opening day. Yussif Ganiu 42nd minute strike was equalized by Binbiem FC through Umar Alhassan on the 68th minute when he scored a beautiful free-kick from 25-yards to keep the hopes of the Kumbungu side alive.
However, Soccer Angels came back strongly to secure all three points after Kumobah Isaac Nakwi capitalized on a defensive blunder to score the winner in the 81st minute of the game.
