The Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) 2020/2021 Women’s Division One League kicks off this weekend with 10 teams across the various league centres in the region.
Nasara Ladies will host Kpanvo Future Ladies at the Airport Base Park in Tamale. The last time both clubs met in a competitive match was in the Unity Cup competition in Yendi where the game ended in a scoreless draw. Kpanvo Future Ladies will be missing the key services of their striker Shakira Abubakar who joined Premier League side Pearlpia Ladies last season.
Tamale Super Ladies FC will open their season against Savelugu Yoo Ladies at the Kulikuli School Park. It is the first time both clubs are meeting in the Women’s Division One League even though Yoo Ladies FC will miss their former striker Iddrisu Mariam who joined Pearlpia Ladies, and was very instrumental for the Savelugu based side few seasons ago. The last time both sides met, Tamale Super Ladies defeated Yoo Ladies FC by 3-0 at the Dalung Town Park.
The other matches will see Dahinshɛli Ladies who will welcome Young Queens FC at the Stadium Annex 3 park. Dahinshɛli Ladies will be hoping to qualify ones again to the playoffs, after they fail to make it to the women’s premier division some few seasons ago.
Technical Director of Bagabaga Ladies FC Alhaji Muniru Odongo (Worwor) is hoping to have a full complement of his squad when his team welcomes Nyankpala Beyom Ladies at the Stadium Annex 1 Park. Ghana Black Maidens player Abdulai Salamatu Nte and goalkeeper Ziblim Farihana, and Yahaya Asana and Ushawu Fuseina (Ramirez) are likely to feature for the home side on Sunday.
