Honoring a pledge made on the floor of the last Congress, the Northern Regional Football Association has doled out a sum of Ghc12,200 to support Juvenile football activities at the District level.

Handing over the cash to the District Chairmen, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo advised them to channel the support to the area of Juvenile football.
Addressing a joint meeting of the Regional ExCo and Chairmen of the 19 District Football Associations, the Regional Chairman, Alhaji Rhyzo, charged the DFA chairmen to work assiduously to ensure that toddlers growing up in their communities choose football over other sporting disciplines as they grow up.

He encouraged them to roll out programs that will make the game of football look attractive and appealing to the kids at that tender age, so that they’ll gravitate towards it and learn the basic techniques very early in life.
The regional chairman recalled that the DFAs had previously received goal post nets and footballs to assist in the development of the game at the District and community level.
The Districts chairmen were also impressed upon to try and submit quarterly reports to the RFA.

In all, 17 of the DFAs received Ghc600 each, whilst Tamale Metro and Sagnerigu Districts got a Ghc1,000 by virtue of the number of juvenile clubs they preside over.
Mr Ibrahim Musah Kessie, the Vice Chairman of the RFA reiterated the need for the Districts to aggressively pursue the ‘ Catch Them Young’ refereeing concept, while the Chairperson of the regional womens committee Hajia Zelia Iddi called on them to encourage to formation of more female clubs in the districts to unearth more talents for the National teams.

The District Chairmen were thankful to the Regional Football Association for the gesture, but like the proverbial Oliver Twist, they will continue to ask for more to compliment whatever they’ll be generating at their end.
