Kumbungu Binbiem FC are Northern Regional Division Two Champions

The Northern Regional Football Association has crowned Kumbungu Binbiem FC as Champions of the Regional Division Two League for the 2021/22 football season.
Based on this feat, Binbiem FC has thus been promoted to the National Division One league and will therefore be competing in Zone One.


Addressing patrons at the Aliu MAHAMA Stadium Annex after a coronation game between Kumbungu Binbiem FC and Savelugu Yoo United, the Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo praised the management, technical team and the playing body for doing a yeoman’s job to ensure Binbiem FC’s qualification to Division One.

The Regional Chairman was however quick to appeal to them to cut short on their celebration and settle down to serious business. He stated that their newly acquired Division One status comes with added responsibilities and obligations. Hence the need to put in place the necessary structures and brace themselves for the challenges ahead.


He stated that the Registration Window had already opened for Division One Clubs and advised them to start now and not wait till the last days of registration when they are prone to making avoidable errors.

Alhaji Rhyzo also called on the Member of Parliament and DCE for Kumbungu constituency who were around to grace the occasion to mobilise logistical and financial assistance for the club to enable them compete effectively in Division One.

By way of Statistics, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo announced that, 627 matches were played this season by the 73 Division Two clubs in the region.
The breakdown was given as 562 matches at the Eight Zonal groups stage, 50 at the Sub Middle league Stage and 15 at the Middle league proper.

The RFA Chairman hailed the Division Two Working Committee, the Executive Council, the Disciplinary Committee, the Referee’s Association,the Competitions Coordinating Committee, the RFA Communication Bureau as well as the Media and Security Services for the vital roles they all played to ensure a smooth football season that ended on a high note.

He assured the mammoth crowd gathered at the closing ceremony that the Regional Football Association will at all times ensure a level playing field for all teams to compete on an even keel, irrespective of whether you are a Cosmopolitan or a rural club.
Bimbiem FC, received a glittering trophy, 40 Gold Medals and a Cash prize of Ghc2,000.
